Origin Story

Research Project Management (RPM) was founded in 2013 by P. Alison Paprica. As the director responsible for up to $60 million (CAD) of research funding per year at the Ontario Ministry of Health, Alison saw that many excellent research teams struggled with planning, leadership, and management.

In response, she developed a suite of simplified project management tools and processes and a range of training and capacity-building options for people interested in learning a better and simpler way to lead and manage their research.

Since 2013, over 1,400 research team members – from principal investigators to graduate students – have participated in RPM webinars, workshops, group training, or individual coaching sessions.

P. Alison Paprica is the Principal and Lead Consultant at RPM. Concurrently, she is a senior fellow and adjunct professor at the University of Toronto’s Institute for Health Policy, Management, and Evaluation.

Previously, Alison held executive roles with ICES and Health Data Research Network Canada and was the inaugural Vice President of Health Strategy & Partnerships at the Vector Institute. From 2010-2013, she was the Director responsible for funding up to $60 million annual research investment at the Ontario Ministry of Health.
